Watch out! Here come the boys!  Matthew, Jason and Simon were out completing another monster training session last weekend.   Matthew:" Good ride today, stayed close to Salisbury but did some good climbing. 2,500 feet over 32.7 miles. Very hot so had a  good chance  to practice eating and drinking while going up. This will be really important on Mont Ventoux where it goes up for all its 21kms. " Did you know? Mount Everest stands 29,030 feet high! Context? These guys will be cycling    28.5 times   the height of  The Shard!

Watch out! Here come the boys!  Matthew, Jason and Simon were out completing another monster training session last weekend.   Jason:"Great ride with Matthew & Simon. The weather was spectacular. Solid sunshine. We see-sawed over Mile Hill ( Mile Hill is the hill between Church Bottom in Middle Woodford to the Swan pub at Stoford). We went up and down like very slow yo-yos for a few hours until we'd managed 5 complete circuits. The total distance for the day was about 40 miles. We totalled about 3000 feet climbing. Ouchio ! Matthew donated some blood along the way." Did you know? Mount Everest stands 8,848m high! Context? These guys will be cycling just over   27 times   the height of The Eiffel Tower!

So some time in January we seem to have a tradition of sitting around our Senior Team Table and the boys think of the next "more demanding, than the last one, " challenge. As a company we try to get all our teams involved so set a company theme this year of Mountains - the aim being everyone could set their own personal mountain to achieve in 2018.  A good idea - I thought as having a challenge in the year is always a great target.  Well, the Senior team decided that since the theme was mountains - why not crack the mother of all mountains -Everest on a bike.  The challenge was born and played out as -cycle the equivalent of basecamp in 7 days after work. The following week cycle the equivalent height of advanced base camp - a two-day cycle in Wales, they have so many mountains, and it would be rude not too as we have an office there.  Finally, to cycle the equivalent height to the summit it was felt we should tackle Ventoux an iconic mountain the challen...

On the 8th September the Everest Challenge begins with 29,029 feet in elevation ridden over 10 days, the equivalent height of 66 times to the top of Salisbury Cathedral. With a week to go until the Everest Challenge the riders Anne-Marie, Matthew, Simon and Jason have been training hard but are the riders ready? And why are they doing it? Lets ask the riders. Why are you doing it?   Simon, Matthew, Anne Marie Matthew - I'm really excited to be helping two excellent charities Trussell Trust and Toilet Twinning. Personally I want to stay fit but its too easy to put off doing things. Having a goal to focus on really helps me and this challenge has certainly been a focus.   Anne Marie - I've been cajoled into joining this years challenge. This is the hardest thing I have ever trained for. I think the charities we have chosen are very special and do remarkable things Simon - Obviously raising money for two well deserving charities is important and p...
